The following is a statement from Governor Tim Pawlenty regarding today’s announcement of $3 million in Federal support for ongoing efforts at the State and Federal levels to enhance reintegration services provided to returning soldiers.

“I am very pleased that the Federal government has recognized the promise of our Minnesota model for reintegrating returning soldiers. This pioneering approach will provide early assistance to soldiers with issues commonly faced after returning home from combat. I applaud General Shellito for creating a national model to support the large number of returning National Guard troops and to help ensure their successful reintegration into family life. The ‘Beyond the Yellow Ribbon’ program, and efforts such as our recent Minnesota veteran support summit, will enhance and synchronize our services for returning soldiers. The $3 million of federal funding will be a key component of this coordinated effort.”
