Governor Tim Pawlenty announced today that Commissioner Sheryl Corrigan of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is leaving her post effective August 1, 2006.

“Commissioner Corrigan has shown that balancing environmental protection and job growth is possible and good for the state,” Governor Pawlenty said. “She has achieved transparency, accountability and measurable improvements for our environment.”

Under Commissioner Corrigan’s leadership the state successfully implemented the Metropolitan Emissions Reduction Project, and passed the nation-leading Mercury Reduction Act of 2006 and the Clean Water Legacy Act.

Corrigan said she will be taking some time off to be with her family before pursuing opportunities in the private sector.

Before joining the Pawlenty Administration in January 2003, Corrigan worked for 3M Company, where she managed environmental, health, and safety functions for a number of 3M businesses.
