GOVERNOR PAWLENTY CALLS EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING -- April 4, 2006
 

Governor Tim Pawlenty today called for a meeting of the Governor's Executive Council to discuss the extension of Emergency Executive Orders 06-04 and 06-05. The following is the Notice of Emergency Meeting:


NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Governor's Executive Council will be convening an emergency meeting on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. at the State Capitol, Room 112, 75 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd., St. Paul, MN to consider extending for up to 30 days the peacetime emergency declared on March 31, 2006 in the Governor's Emergency Executive Orders 06-04 and 06-05, which provided emergency relief in relation to the counties affected by Red River flooding.


Governor Pawlenty also extended the State of Emergency to included Roseau County. The following is the text of Emergency Executive Order 06-05 signed by Governor Tim Pawlenty yesterday:


EMERGENCY EXECUTIVE ORDER 06-05

DECLARING A STATE OF EMERGENCY

IN THE STATE OF MINNESOTA

            I, TIM PAWLENTY, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the applicable statutes, do hereby issue this Executive Order:

            WHEREAS, on March 31, 2006 I issued an executive order declaring a peacetime emergency for Wilkin, Clay, Norman, Polk, Marshall and Kittson Counties in response to flooding in the Red River Valley; and

            WHEREAS, dangerous flood conditions are spreading to areas in Roseau County and are threatening persons and property in Roseau County; and

            WHEREAS, the conditions present an immediate need to activate emergency resources to prepare for and combat the flood conditions and the resources of the affected local and county governments in Roseau County are inadequate to meet the demands generated by the flooding conditions; and

            WHEREAS, emergency assets and personnel from the Minnesota National Guard may be needed.

            NOW, THEREFORE, I hereby order that Emergency Executive Order 06-04 is extended to apply to Roseau County. 

            Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 2005, 4.035, Subdivision 2, this emergency executive order shall be effective immediately and will remain in effect until the conclusion of the emergency.  The peacetime emergency can be extended by the Executive Council or the Legislature in accordance with Minnesota Statutes 2005, Section 12.31, Subdivision 2.  The portion of this order activating the National Guard is not subject to any time limitation contained in Minnesota Statutes 2005, Chapter 12.
