GOVERNOR PAWLENTY REAPPOINTS WHITTEN TO BOARD OF ANIMAL HEALTH -- April 10, 2009

Saint Paul – Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the reappointment of John Whitten, D.V.M., to the Board of Animal Health.

Whitten, of Alexandria, is an owner and partner in the Alexandria Veterinary Clinic P.A. He has been a licensed veterinarian in Minnesota for over 26 years. Whitten received a bachelor of science degree in zoology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University in East Lansing. Whitten is reappointed as a veterinarian member to the board for a four year term that expires January 7, 2013.

The Board of Animal Health oversees numerous voluntary and mandatory programs that focus on controlling and eradicating animal diseases in Minnesota. The Board consists of five members appointed by the Governor.
