Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced the appointment of Victoria M. Young to the Governor's Residence Council. Young, of St. Anthony, is an assistant professor of modern architecture and the allied arts in the Department of Art History at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. She is the director of the Art History Graduate Program at St. Thomas and vice president of the Minnesota Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians Board of Directors. Young earned her doctor of philosophy in architectural history and her master of architectural history from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, and her bachelor of arts degree in architectural history summa cum laude from New York University. Young replaces Arlene Leyden as a representative of higher education for a four-year term that expires on January 5, 2009. The Governor's Residence Council develops and implements an overall restoration plan for the governor's residence and surrounding grounds and solicits contributions to restore, maintain, improve and furnish the building. The council consists of 19 members, including 13 appointed by the Governor. |
